Tucker nips Pendleton County

PARSONS — Cole Rapp found the endzone late in the fourth quarter Friday to give Tucker County a 14-8 victory over Pendleton County in Potomac Valley Conference Football action.

Jared Harman put the Wildcats up 6-0 on a 2 yard touchdown run with 30 seconds left in the first quarter. The extra point attempt failed. In the second quarter, Tucker County’s Luke Poling burst free for a 34 yard TD jaunt with 4:29 on the clock. The PAT put TCHS up 7-6 at halftime.

After the intermission, the Pendleton County defense recorded a safety to give the Wildcats a 8-7 advantage. The Mountain Lions put the game away in the fourth quarter when Cole Rapp scored on a 10 yard run. The successful PAT made the score 14-8.

For the Mountain Lions, Poling finished the game with 16 carries for 44 yards and a TD.

He also completed 9 of 14 passes for 45 yards. Ben Comer caught 5 passes for 41 yards and Ben Calloway grabbed 2 passes for 13 yards. Rapp finished the game with 5 carries for 22 yards and 1 TD.

Harman set the pace for Pendleton County with 25 carries for 89 yards and 1 TD. Quarterback Kole Puffenberger completed 8 of 14 passes for 96 yards. He also carried the ball 7 times for 6 yards.

Tucker County (3-5) is set to host Petersburg next Friday at 7 p.m.

Pendleton (1-7) is scheduled to travel to Moorefield next Friday for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
