TVHS scores big win, 51-8

HUNDRED — The Tygarts Valley Bulldogs picked up their second win of the season Friday, defeating Hundred High School, 51-8, in varsity football action.

“We played well,” TVHS coach Rodney Bright said. “We still have some mistakes we’ve got to fix. This was the first time we’ve had everybody healthy since week 3. So, they were back to their regular positions …

“We played pretty well, though. It was good to get a win. We just came out of a four-game losing streak against teams that are all, right now, in the playoff battle,” Bright said. “They’re all in the top 14 or better, with South Harrison being No. 1. So, for the guys to come out with that tough of a schedule and bounce back and play a good game tonight, that says something.

“Now we’ve got to get ready to finish out 4 and 6. The next two games are do-able for us, but we’ve got to play football,” Bright said.

TVHS quarterback Jake Tackett factored in on 3 touchdowns, including a TD pass, a TD reception and an interception returned for a score.

Josh Bright threw the TD pass to Tackett and Hunter Davis caught the TD pass from Tackett.

Daniel White scored 2 rushing TDs for the Bulldogs, while P.J. Brady, Elijah Scott and Joey Taylor also found paydirt.

Tygarts Valley (2-6) is set to travel to Wirt County next Friday for their next-to-last regular season game this year.

The game will kick off at 7 p.m.
