B-UHS girls cruise past Preston Co.

KINGWOOD — Buckhannon-Upshur opened their Big 10 Conference slate on the road with a 53-25 dismantling of Preston High School, improving to 2-0.

Alli Robinson shot 75 percent from behind the arc, dropping in 3 out of 4 attempts from 3-point range, while on her way to a game high 19 points for the Lady Buccaneers. Robinson also added 5 rebounds and 5 steals. Lauren Bennett provided 11 points, 6 boards, 5 takeaways and 2 assists.

Hanna McClung was cold from three-point range, going 0 for 6. She still contributed 8 points, 7 steals, 6 assists and 3 rebounds. Audrey Gaudet chipped in with 7 rebounds, 4 points, 3 assists, and 3 steals. McKinley Gaudet also inked 4 points to go along with her 4 steals, 2 boards and dishing of 2 assists.

B-U jumped out to a 14-2 after the first quarter, before being having the hosting Knights doubled up, 26-13, at the half. The visitors poured in 18 more in the third period to have a 44-15 cushion heading into the fourth.

Next up for Buckhannon will be a first round game in the International Oil and Gas Association tournament hosted at Glenville State College next week. The Buccaneers are slated to face Cabell Midland in the Waco Center at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
