Lady Colts cruise past Elkins, 64-23
PHILIPPI — Philip Barbour upstart sophomore Dystonie Simmons put on a show at the Colts’ Corral Thursday evening when she torched the nets with 6 three-pointers to score a game-high 22 points, adding 5 assists and 4 steals as PB bested Elkins, 64-23, in Big 10 Conference action.
“We came out and executed what we wanted to do early, and shot the ball extremely well,” PBHS coach Curtis Bodkins said. “I am real proud of the defensive effort and our dominance on the boards.”
After setting the tone early with a 17-0 run from the tipoff, the Colts led 20-2 heading into the second quarter. With a 31-12 lead at intermission, PB then went on to be up 55-18 when the fourth stanza ensued.
Kasey Neville patrolled the interior for 11 points and 8 rebounds. Adrianna Christopher was also well-balanced with 9 assists, 8 points and 5 takeaways.
Taylor Maynard paced the Lady Tigers with 9 in the scoring column. Allison Smith with 6, Alyssa Severino with 4 and 2 each for Taylor Oldaker and Lauren Silvester rounded out the EHS scoring on the night.
Philip Barbour improved to 5-1, and will host sectional foe Berkeley Springs today at 7:30 p.m. The Tigers will resume play on Thursday when they are set to travel to Tucker County (6-0).
