TVHS Bulldogs outrun Union

MILL CREEK — Logan George scored a game-high 20 points Friday to help Tygarts Valley outrun Union, 78-44, in boys varsity basketball action.

“Union was a little undermanned, but we’ll take it,” TVHS coach Tom Wamsley said. “It was the typical first home game, there was a lot of nerves. We had a ton of turnovers in the first half, because of nerves, but we played real hard on defense. We’d turn it over and work hard to get it right back with a steal on the other end. In the second half, we settled down.

“The defense got a lot better. They just didn’t have the bench we had. They were short handed to begin with, they were down a starter. We just wore them down. I ran more kids in that he did.”

George was the game’s leading scorer with 20 points. Brett Smith contributed 14 points to the effort, while Cole Arbogast added 12 points, Charlie New recorded 9 points and Hunter Davis notched 8 points for TVHS.

Colton Reed was the top scorer for Union with 18 points. Teammate Trenton Reed added 12 points and Dalton Lough scored 7 points.

TVHS (2-0) is set to host Elkins on Tuesday. Junior Varsity action is scheduled for 5:45 p.m. and the varsity contest will follow.
