Vikings open year with road win at Hampshire
ROMNEY — Petersburg opened their season on the road at Hampshire High School, having three players reach double-digits in scoring to best the hosting Trojans 69-57.
Peyton Sindledecker paced the Vikings with a double-double, pulling in 12 points and 10 boards.
The Vikes led 15-13 after the first quarter, though trailing 30-28 at the half.
Heading into the fourth with a 46-42 advantage, the visitors closed out the contest for good over the fourth frame of non-conference action.
Hunter Pool put 13 points in the bucket for PHS, while also wrangling in 8 rebounds for Petersburg.
Jacob Haleterman scored 9 points and 8 boards for the Vikings.
Kahner Turner was the game’s high scorer with 18 points for the visitors.
Trad Harman and Tyce Wisnewski inked 9 and 8 points, respectively. Pool passed out 5 assists, and grabbed 5 steals. Turner inked 6 rebounds on the night.
Next up for Petersburg (1-0) is a home opener against fellow Class AA Weir on Saturday
