Irish top Bulldogs

CLARKSBURG — Tygarts Valley High School’s Logan George notched a career-high 27 points Monday against Notre Dame High School, but in the end the Bulldogs couldn’t pull off an upset against the high-powered Irish. NDHS won the matchup, 90-56.

“We ran into one of the top teams in the state at their place,” TVHS coach Tom Wamsley said. “It was not a good combination.”

Notre Dame came out from the locker room and opened up the game with a scoring frenzy, taking a 52-27 advantage by halftime. The Irish continued to capitalize in the second half en route to the victory.

George set the pace with 27 points for the Bulldogs. Other players recording points included: Brett Smith, 8 points; Cole Arbogast, 7 points; Austin Simmons, 6 points; Jacob Taylor, 4 points; Devan Ball, 2 points; and Hunter Davis, 2 points.

Four Irish made their way into double digits in the scoring column. Todd Griffith led the way with 17 points, while Gabe Zummo and James Cava added 14 points each and Joel Maurer added 11 points.

TVHS (6-12) is scheduled to host Pendleton County on Wednesday. Junior varsity action is set to tip off at 5:45 p.m., and the varsity contest is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
