Lady Colts’ season ends at Keyser

KEYSER — Philip Barbour’s season came to an end with a 55-34 loss to Keyser in sectional play, after posting a winning record of 14-9 in 2017-18.

With the Lady Colts’ recent seasons’ records continuing to be on the upswing, four Philip Barbour seniors who have been part of that success played their final varsity minutes against the KHS Golden Tornado on the road Wednesday.

Adriana Christopher, Annie Ferguson, Sarah Jones and Casey Neville inked their last game on the hardwood to help shoulder the defeat at Keyser High School.

“The four seniors have built a foundation for the program by winning more games from their first year on,” PBHS coach Curtis Bodkins said. “They have set the standard for the younger players to strive for.”

Philip Barbour notched a 10-8 loss in the first quarter, and Keyser kept building their lead to 29-21 by the intermission. The Colts trailed, 43-31, heading into the fourth frame.

Keyser smothered the visitors, 12-3, in the last period in order to coast to an 18-point victory.

Christopher collected a team-high 19 points to go along with 5 rebounds for PB.

Junior McKenzie Carpenter ushered in 8 boards and 6 in the scoring column for the Colts.
