Lady Vikings top Moorefield

MOOREFIELD — Petersburg put themselves back on the winning side of things with a solid 42-37 road win over Moorefield during a non-divisional Potomac Valley Conference contest, improving the Vikings record to 8-13.

It was a near draw at halftime, as the visitors led by 1 point, 17-16.

The third period finished up with a Vikings’ lead of 31-28, and another near-tie quarter in the fourth saw PHS nab an 11-9 advantage to hold on for the win.

Moorefield’s Lindsey Rinker had a game-high 16 points, and knocked down 4 out of 4 at the foul line.

With 10 points each, Jenna Burgess and Burgandy Roby paced Petersburg on the road.

Kayla Lantz with 8, and Casey Watts with 5 points rounded out the Lady Vikings’ scoring.

Anna Riggleman helped the hosting Lady Yellow Jackets out with 8 points, while shooting 6 for 10 at the line.

Petersburg is slated to finish the regular season at East Hardy on Thursday.
