B-UMS stings Elkins Middle School Hornets

ELKINS — The Lady Hornets came up short on both ends of a double header Friday, as Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School stung EMS, 15-4, in the first contest and 13-5 in the second game.

“The girls played well,” EMS coach Bobby Reams said. “They’re coming together as a team. They’re working good as a team. At anytime, they can do well. They’ll surprise somebody someday.”

In game one, Jansen Kimble earned the victory for B-UMS, striking out 3 batters in 3 innings of work. Ravyn Weirich shouldered the loss for EMS.

Hannah Chenoweth had the only hit in the contest for Elkins Middle School.

In the second game, Shelby McDaniels earned the win.

She struck out 6 batters in 5 innings. Halle Roy was cited with the loss.

The Lady Hornets’ offense fared much better in the second contest. Chenoweth led the way with 3 hits, including a double. Ruby Jackson and Sydney Wamsley collected 2 hits each, while Roy, Weirich, Kennedy Hart and Emma Judy recorded 1 hit each.

Elkins Middle School (0-5) is scheduled to travel to East Fairmont on Monday for a 5:30 p.m. contest.
