TVHS Lady Bulldogs fall to Clay-Battelle

BLACKSVILLE — The Lady Bulldogs came up short Friday, dropping both games of a double header to Clay-Battelle in the season opener.

Tygarts Valley lost the first contest, 16-0, and the second game, 13-0.

“The girls played their hearts out,” TVHS coach Wendy Walden said. “I’m very proud of them, especially with it being their first game and first time actually being on the field.

“We had 3 practices on the field, the very first three days of the season, but it was just some catching and throwing around … They all did pretty good at the plate, I just think they were nervous.”

On the mound for the Bulldogs, Courtney Haddix recorded the loss in the first game and Emily Ball was credited with the loss in the second.

Tygarts Valley (0-2) is scheduled to return to action on Monday to host Notre Dame.

First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
