WVU alumni, local players take part in tournament

CLARKSBURG — A team of former basketball stars from West Virginia University won first place in Flight B during the recent golf tournament sponsored by the Barbour County Chamber of Commerce at the Bel Meadow Golf Club.

Among the participants was Josh Yeager and Alex Ruoff

Yeager is a 1999 graduate of Philip Barbour High School who was three times All-State in basketball, twice a Big 10 Conference Player of the Year, and a McDonald’s All American Honorable Mention. He was the all-time leading scorer in basketball history at PBHS. In Morgantown he was the Touchdown Club Player of the Year in Basketball in 1999 and a four-year letterman for West Virginia University.

Ruoff, a standout basketball player for the West Virginia University Mountaineers from 2005 to 2009, is currently playing professional basketball in Spain for the Joventut Baldalona team, but took time off to support the chamber’s fundraiser for Philip Barbour scholarships.
