Redmon’s fumble return named MEC’s top play

BRIDGEPORT– Quincy Redmon’s 96-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown against UVa.-Wise has been selected as the 2017-18 Mountain East Conference Play of the Year.

The MEC Play of the Year was selected by a combination of a fan vote conducted via social media, conference administrators and the league office.

Redmon’s play came as the Falcons were holding on to a a slim 7-6 lead with UVa.-Wise driving deep just before halftime. The play sparked Fairmont State to a 34-6 win.

In addition to earning the most votes in an online poll, Redmon’s play earned more views on Twitter, YouTube and Facebook, and was third in views on Instagram, since the nominees were announced on Monday.

Overall, fans viewed, liked and shared the Redmon play over 9,000 times in the last five days.

Redmon’s play finished in front of the University of Charleston’s Paulo Pita’s saves in a penalty shootout to help the Golden Eagles clinch the national championship, UVa.-Wise’s Kaian Duverger’s one-handed catch that was featured on the ESPN segment “You Got Moss-ed,” and Concord’s dramatic game-winning hit to get into the MEC Tournament on the final day of competition.
