Lady Tiger booters now 5-0
Liam Gongola nets four goals as EHS boys down Preston
KINGWOOD – The Elkins High School girls soccer improved to 5-0 on the season with a 2-0 win over Preston Thursday night in Big 10 Conference action.
The Lady Tigers scored both of their goals in the first half as Sofia Triplett found the back of the net from 18 yards at the 8:00 mark and Isabella Karlen added a score midway through the half.
It was the fourth shut out of the season for Elkins.
“It was good we got in front early because the momentum seemed to switch in the second half,” Lady Tiger coach Scott Cutright said. “The fog also set in and you couldn’t see the other side of the field.
“Our girls did a nice job of getting through that to record another clean sheet (on defense).”
The Knights held a 7-6 edge on shots and a 3-0 cushion on corner kicks.
Taylor Phillips was in goal for Elkins.
The Lady Tigers will return to action Tuesday at Liberty for another league contest.
