Senators fall to Trojans

ELKINS — Trevecca  Nazarene claimed a 3-2 win over Davis & Elkins Thursday in G-MAC play at Nuttall Field.

The Senators are now 2-1 overall and 1-1 in league play. They will remain home at 5 p.m. on Saturday to face Kentucky Wesleyan for another league contest.

D&E jumped out to a 1-0 lead in Thursday’s contest, which was delayed due to lightning, on a goal by Carlos Cruza in the 41st minute.

In the 56th minute, the Senators took a 2-0 advantage on a goal by Cesar Matteo Ghezzi.

The Trojans, however, tallied the next three scores en route to the win.

The game-winning goal was scored by Ethan Keogh in the 89th minute.

Armando Molina had tied the score with a pair of goals less than a minute apart

D&E held a 15-10 advantage on shots, while TNU led in corner kicks, 11-4.

A total of 35 fouls were whistled — 20 against the Senators and 15 for the Trojans — and six yellow cards were issued.

Tyler Delgado had seven saves for the visitors in earning the win in goal.

Everton Carvalho stopped three shots for D&E.
