PB spikers bow to Bridgeport and Greenbrier East
BRIDGEPORT — Three-time Class AA state champion Philip Barbour was blanked Saturday at Bridgeport High School during triangular action that included the host Indians and Greenbrier East.
The Lady Colts season record slipped to 25-7 and two ties to date.
After falling 15-25 to the Tribe in the first set, PB forced overtime, though still falling in straight sets as Bridgeport prevailed 27-25 over its Big 10 Conference rival.
McKenzie Carpenter tallied 10 kills and 10 digs while Jyra Casto dialed up nine kills and six blocks at the net.
Riley Domingues put up 18 set assists and four points and Emma Kennedy recorded five blocks. Maddy Jones with 17 digs and seven points, along with Kilea Payne (10 digs, four points) also chipped in for the Colts.
Against Greenbrier East, Philip Barbour fell 17-25 and 21-25.
The Lady Spartans limited Casto and Carpenter to just a combined 11 kills and nine blocks. Domingues inked 10 assists and four points with an ace serve included. Jones rounded up 10 digs and four service points with an ace in tow, and Kennedy also notched an ace along her five points from the service line.
Philip Barbour is slated to be at Elkins High School Tuesday for a Big 10 triangular with the host Lady Tigers and Bridgeport. First serve in slated for 6 p.m. at Richard P. Simmons Memorial Gymnasium.
