Lady Colts seek fourth straight banner today
CHARLESTON – Philip Barbour will seek its fourth straight Class AA volleyball title today at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.
The Lady Colts face Big 10 Conference rival Bridgeport at 9:30 a.m. in a rematch of the 2016 title game.
After disposing of Shady Spring, 3-0, in Friday’s first match, Philip Barbour got past Nicholas County in a thrilling five-set semifinal encounter, taking the deciding set, 15-13.
The Lady Colts had won the first two sets (25-20, 25-13) before the Grizzlies battled back to force the fifth set with wins of 25-17 and 25-19.
The Lady Indians had no problems in the first two matches, winning by 3-0 scores over Nitro in the opener and Independence in the semis.
