Shriver, Bocook power Battlers to win over Salem
PHILIPPI – Freshman David Shriver fired in 23 points and Malik Bocook grabbed 20 rebounds as Alderson Broaddus claimed an 88-63 win over Salem University Tuesday night in non-conference action at Rex Pyles Arena.
Shriver, a Philip Barbour High School product, was 7 of 14 from the 3-point line. He had 17 of his points in the first half.
Brandon Simmons added 17 points, Bocook 16 and Tyler Golphin 15 for the Battlers, who led 40-27 at the intermission.
AB held a 49-29 rebounding advantage led by Bocook’s big effort on the boards. He also dished out four assists and blocked two shots.
Simmons also had a double-double by grabbing 13 rebounds and Coye Campbell tallied four assists.
Kanayo Obi-Rapu had 14 points to lead the Tigers (6-3).
Shawn Christian and Chris Shields added 10 apiece.
Salem had 11 turnovers, while AB had 13.
The Battlers (3-4) will travel to G-MAC rival Davis & Elkins College for a 5:30 p.m. contest on Thursday.
