ELKINS — A chance to remain home and continue to player soccer led to Elkins High School’s Kiley Calain signing a letter-of-intent with Davis & Elkins College on Monday.

Calain was an all-state defender during her career for the Lady Tigers and coach Scott Cutright, She was also an all-Big 10 Conference first-team selection and named to the all-region team.

“Going to Davis & Elkins was the right decision for me,” Calain said. “I’m really excited about getting my college career started and I know I need to put a lot of work in to get prepared.

“I’m still recovering from an injury from this past season. I need to get stronger, both physically and mentally, to play at the next level.”

Calain is also excited about the new conference Davis & Elkins will be entering in the 2019-20 school year.

“I’m looking forward to playing in the Mountain East Conference,” Calain said. “It’s a great league with a lot of very good teams.”
