Lincoln’s pressure stymies PB

PHILIPPI — Class AA, No. 10 Lincoln proved to be too much handle for Philip Barbour Friday night as the Lady Cougars cruised to a 66-39 Big 10 Conference win.

Lincoln (8-1) brought full-court pressure much of the first half while vaulting out to a 21-4 lead after one quarter of play.

The Lady Colts clawed out a 14-12 deficit in the second stanza to find themselves in a 35-16 hole at the half.

Tacking 21 more points on the board in the third, Lincoln entered the fourth quarter with a 26-point lead, at 56-30.

Destiney Blake led PB in scoring with 10, while Bryanne Tustin put in eight points. Emma Kennedy chipped in six and Micah Harris had five points and three takeaways. Bailey Nestor also snared eight rebounds and four points.

Lincoln recorded three in double figures as Victoria Sturm netted 19, Hannah Ferris contributed 17 (three 3-pointers) and Katie Martin finished with 12 points.

Philip Barbour slips to 4-7 and will host sectional foe Petersburg (6-6) at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
