Strong second half powers Bridgeport past PB girls
PHILIPPI — Philip Barbour never recovered from an early deficit in dropping a 63-23 decision to Bridgeport Friday night in Big 10 Conference play.
The Lady Indians jumped out to a 9-1 advantage and led by 12 points, at 25-13, at the half.
Bridgeport smothered the hosts with an 18-3 third-quarter bid to swell the lead out to 43-16 before capping the contest off with a 20-7 decision in the fourth frame.
Dystonie Simmons and Destiney Blake paced Philip Barbour with seven points apiece. Alyssa Hill added five.
Paige Humble put up a game-high 17 points for Bridgeport, while teammate Emily Riggs connected on 6 of 8 from the line toward 14 total points for the Lady Indians.
Philip Barbour (4-9) is slated to resume play at Preston on Wednesday for a Big 10 matchup.
