AB baseball team drops opening tilt

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. — The Alderson Broaddus University baseball team dropped their opening game of the season to Carson-Newman, 8-2, on Friday afternoon.

It was the first of a four-game series to be held over the weekend.

Tyler Amedure blasted a solo homer in the top of the first inning for the Battlers and added an RBI fielder’s choice in the fifth that tied the game at 2-2.

AB starting pitcher Zach Salmon finished the night with four strikeouts and allowed three earned runs over five innings. Francisco Galarza led the Battlers with two hits and a run scored.
