D&E’s Guzman honored by NCATA

ELKINS — Davis & Elkins College sophomore Caitlynn Guzman was named a Week 1 Honorable Mention Specialist of the Week by the National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA).

The San Jose, California, native is the first NCATA award winner in program history for the Senators, competing in their second year in 2019.

During a Feb. 2 meet against West Virginia Wesleyan, Guzman helped D&E in seven events, including compulsory acro and pyramid and the team event.

Guzman scored a 9.80 out of 10 in pyramid heat one and followed up with a 9.05 out of 9.40 in heat two.

The Senators will return to action on Sunday with a tri-meet taking on Concordia and host West Liberty.
