ELKINS – Elkins High School’s Chance Burdette is headed to Glenville State to play football.

Burdette signed with the Pioneers Wednesday afternoon at EHS.

“Glenville was the best fit for me,” Burdette said. “They visited me at the school and then I went on a tour there. When they offered, I thought about it and decided to go there.

“I fell in love with their facilities and atmosphere and the attitude towards things. They want me to get better as a player and push me to the limits.”

During his career with the Tigers, Burdette played safety as a junior and defensive end this past season.

He earned both all-state and all-Big 10 honors.

At the next level, he will move to outside linebacker.

“I need to improve my mobility and get faster,” Burdette said of his off-season conditioning. “I plan to run track in the spring as well to help with my speed.”

Burdette, the son of Tim and Tammy Burdette, is undecided about his major.
