Lady Senators blast Mars Hill

ELKINS — Angelina Horan continued her dominant pace to begin the season as Davis & Elkins College rolled to a 17-9 win over Mars Hill Thursday afternoon at Nuttall Field.

Horan, who entered the contest with 16 goals and was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Player of the week, found the back of the net seven more times in the win over Lady Lions.

Teammate Ryann Summer also scored seven goals in the contest for the Lady Senators, who won their fourth-straight and improved to 4-1 on the season.

Kaitlin Howell, Kathleen Shaw and Casey Johnson added one goal apiece as Davis & Elkins stormed out to a 13-5 lead at the half.

Scout Black paced Mars Hill (3-4) with five goals. Molly Tobias added a pair of scores for the visitors.

The Lady Lions will visit Wingate College on Saturday for their next contest.

The Lady Senators, who held a 37-26 edge in shots on goal, will remain home for a 1 p.m. matchup against Notre Dame College on Sunday.
