Lady Colts rally by ’Maids, 5-4

WESTON — Philip Barbour plated three runs in the seventh inning to take a 5-4 win over Big 10 Conference opponent Lewis County.

The Lady Colts, who trailed 4-2 after four innings, improved to 15-10 overall, while pushing their regular season Big 10 resume out to 10-4 on the year.

Sara Simon picked up her latest complete-game win on the mound with seven strikeouts and two walks.

She allowed four runs on 10 hits.

Zoey Henline shouldered the loss for the Minutemaids after a full seven innings and being charged with 10 hits and five runs. Henline walked five and struck out three.

Emma Kenney hit a two-run blast over the fence to also score Sara Simon for a 2-0 Colts’ lead in the opening frame.

Lewis County countered with runs in the home sides of the first and second, and took a 4-2 lead after a pair of scores in the fourth.

Philip Barbour then used its three-run seventh inning to come from behind on the road.

Amanda Reed’s RBI single to plate Kennedy and Marissa Schiefelbein scoring on the throw brought the Lady Colts back to level at 4-all in the last at bat for PB.

McKenzie Moss dinged an RBI single to score Shelby Collins with the game-winning score for the visitors.

Philip Barbour is slated to host a makeup game against a 24-3 sectional rival Petersburg team at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
