Lady Senators drop twin bill
ELKINS – The Davis & Elkins College softball team dropped a doubleheader at the hands of Kentucky Wesleyan Saturday afternoon in Great Midwest Athletic Conference action at Joni Smith Softball Field.
The Lady Senators, who took a seven-game winning streak into the doubleheader, dropped the opener 8-4 and fell in the nightcap, 5-2.
Lexie Mullen collected three hits, three RBIs and three runs scored to lead the Lady Panthers (21-24, 13-9 G-MAC) to the Game 1 win.
Jaclyn Parker added three hits and two RBIs for Kentucky Wesleyan. Evyn Hendricks notched the win in 3 2/3 innings pitched. She allowed two hits, struck out three and walked two.
Haley Grindstaff took the loss for Davis & Elkins in six innings pitched. She gave up 11 hits, walked four and struck out one.
Alyssa Cairns had three hits and two RBIs to lead the Lady Senators at the dish in Game 1. Ryn Boelter added a pair of hits.
Meredith Daunhauer and Jaylin Tidwell had three hits and two RBIs each to lead the Lady Panthers in Game 2.
Maci Brown scattered six hits in seven innings pitched to earn the win for Kentucky Wesleyan. She struck out three and walked two.
Jade Allee suffered the setback for D&E in six innings of work. She gave up five runs on 11 hits. Brittany Wade drove in a run on a pair of hits to lead the hosts at the plate.
The Lady Senators completed the regular season with a 9-29 overall mark and 9-15 slate in G-MAC play.
