Schiefelbein and Simon blast home runs in win

KINGWOOD — Philip Barbour used run spurts in the third and fifth innings Thursday to get a 15-4 mercy rule win over Big 10 Conference foe Preston.

The hosting Lady Knights’ four runs all came in the home side of the fifth and final frame. Philip Barbour thrower Amanda Reed was credited with the win after five innings on the hill while issuing 7 strikeouts, 4 runs, 3 hits, and two walks.

Emma Kennedy hit the first of her two RBIs in the second inning before Marissa Schiefelbein dinged her second homer of the season to give PB a 2-0 lead.

The Colts dented the PHS scoreboard with 5 more runs in the third as Shelby Collins cracked a 2-run double, and Sara Simon hit a 2-run triple.

Simon belted a 2-run shot over the fence to help pace a 7-run outburst by the Lady Colts in the top of the fifth while going four of four at the plate.

Lilley Criss went 3 of 4 at the dish with an RBI, and McKenzie Moss was 2 out of 3 on the day.

Philip Barbour improved to 8-5, and is slated to travel to Moorefield today for the Bub Riggleman weekend tournament in Hardy County.
