TV boys fare well at league meet

MILL CREEK – The Tygarts Valley boys track team placed second out of nine teams at the recent Mason-Dixon Conference meet.

The Bulldogs finished with 119 points. South Harrison won the meet with 150 points.

All-conference performers for TV were Devan Ball (1,600-meter run), Brier Daugherty (shot put) and the 4×200 relay team of Caden Boggs, Brent Daniels, Jayden Taylor and Dalton Grimes.

Earning second-place finishes for the Bulldogs were Boggs (100), Ball (800), Shane Martel (300 hurdles), Cole Arbogast (discus), the 4×400 relay of Jace Swecker, Warner Gibson, Dusty Arbogast and Martel and the 4×100 relay of Boggs, Daniels, Taylor and Grimes.

Placing third were Swecker in the 400, Gibson in the 110 hurdles and the 4×800 relay of Brennan Shiflett, John Sutton, Ryan Defibaugh and Ball and the shuttle hurdle relay of Swecker, Grimes, Martel and Gibson.

The TV girls finished the evening in seventh place with 28 points, while Hundred won the championship with 99 points.

Top finishers for the Lady Bulldogs were Landrie Lanham with a third-place finish in the 100 hurdles and fourth-place finish in the 300 hurdles and the third-place shuttle hurdle team of Karissa Currence, Caitlyn Swecker, Kaylee Halterman and Lanham.

Taking fourth were Abby Lanham (long jump) and the 4×200 relay of Halterman, Abby Lanham, Cypress Daugherty and Amber Barb.

Tygarts Valley will travel to Buckhannon-Upshur on Tuesday for its next action and will host a small meet at Elkins High School on Wednesday.
