Area teams hoping to return to the field today

ELKINS — After the weather cooperated for the most part this week, area high school and college squads were sidelined on Friday due to rainy conditions.

Games slated for today, weather permitting, include Kentucky Wesleyan at Alderson Broaddus in a G-MAC baseball doubleheader.

The teams were scheduled to play on Friday but will now play twin bills today and Sunday at Jack Funk Field.

Davis & Elkins, meanwhile, will visit Tiffin on Sunday after the teams were forced to play Thursday’s first doubleheader in Elkins due to the weather in the Ohio area.

In men’s lacrosse, Davis & Elkins will visit Seton Hill at noon and Alderson Broaddus will travel to Walsh at 1 p.m.

Meanwhile, the D&E women’s lacrosse squad is scheduled to entertain Alderson Broaddus at noon.

In high school softball, Buckhannon-Upshur is scheduled to visit Petersburg for a 3 p.m. doubleheader and Philip Barbour will take part in the Bearcat Bash, facing host Grafton at 9 a.m. and Hampshire at 11 a.m.

Only one baseball game is on the schedule as Harman is slated to entertain Clay-Battelle at 1 p.m. for a twin bill.

Pendleton County and Tygarts Valley moved their doubleheader up a day on Thursday due to Friday’s weather.

The Wildcats swept the twin bill by scores of 13-5 and 17-4.
