Colts blank Mountain Lions 11-0

PHILIPPI — Philip Barbour used an early balance of 5 runs scored in both the first and second innings on Tuesday en route to an 11-0 mercy-rule verdict over Tucker County.

The Colts tacked on an insurance run in the home side of the fourth to seal the deal.

Philip Barbour sophomore hurler Austyn Fletcher collected the win after 3 innings on the hill, fanning three and allowing one hit.

Jayden Herron, a PB freshman, tossed 2 innings of relief in which he recorded 3 strikeouts, gave up a hit and walked one.

Fletcher helped his cause at the dish by going 1 of 2 with 2 RBIs. Will Knight was 2 for 3 with an RBI and 2 runs scored.

Chase Collier was 1 out 3 with a double and 3 runs scored. Gabe Bibey with 2 runs scored, Alex Wilson with an RBI, and Braiden Short with a run-producing contact also pitched in.

Tucker County seniors Cole Rapp and Christian Purnell each garnered a hit for the black and gold.

Philip Barbour improved to 16-6 and are slated to be at five-time defending Class AA champion Bridgeport today for a Big 10 Conference tussle scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.

The Colts are to return home for their regular season finale against Buckhannon-Upshur on Friday with a 5 p.m. first-pitch time on the calendar at PBHS.

The Mountain Lions slipped to 5-11 and are to host Trinity Christian today in Parsons at 5 p.m.
