Post 29 falls 1-0 in Maryland
MCHENRY, Md. — Carsyn King pitched six shutout innings to lead Garrett County (Md.) to a 1-0 win over Elkins Monday in America Legion baseball action.
King allowed just five hits, struck out one, and walked one for Post 214, who scored the lone run of the contest in the first inning when Jake Lush drew a bases-loaded walk.
Isaac Uphole helped lockdown the shutout and notched the save in one inning pitched.
Despite a strong effort, Read Schumacher suffered the loss on the mound for Post 29 (14-13). He allowed just six hits, struck out eight and walked two.
Schumacher led the charge at the plate for Elkins with two hits. Dustyn Primavero, Brett Smith, and Gage Bibey had the other hits for Post 29.
“Read (Schumacher) pitched a tremendous game tonight,” said Elkins Manager Chris George. “It was just a well played game by both teams, and King threw a good game for them.”
Elkins will entertain Bridgeport for a 7 p.m. contest today at Robin Harvey Memorial Field.
