Tigers, Colts compete in match

FAIRMONT — North Marion took top honors in a Big 10 Conference quad match on the links Monday at Green Hills Country Club with a lowest team score of 170.

The Huskies were paced by Michael Harris and Dylan Runner with respective scores of 39 and 41.

Bridgeport’s Matt Aman earned the low medalist award with a round of 38 to lead the Indians in the top four players scoring format for prep golf. Bridgeport came in second with a 180.

Elkins’ squad garnered third place with a 226. Ivan Looney-Sanders shot a 53, followed by Tanner Miller and Harman Young with 56s, and Chase Bedford with a 61. Lady Tiger senior Gabby Bedford checked into the clubhouse with a 66.

Philip Barbour rounded out the scoring in fourth with a 244. The Colts were led by sophomore Sara Simon with a 56. Corey Martin checked in at 59, while lefty Mason Halfin (61) and Braiden Short (68) also chipped in for PB.

The Tigers are slated to be at Grafton today for a 4 p.m. tee time at Tygart Lake Public Golf Course.

Elkins will host its home opener on Wednesday at the Elks Golf Course when hosting a Big 10 tri match with Buckhannon-Upshur and East Fairmont also slated for a 4 p.m. start time.

Philip Barbour will be in action at the Barbour Country Club today for the first time in quite a while as the venue has recently been enveloped in a renovation effort rendering it now open to the public again. The Colts will host Big 10 foe Lincoln today beginning at 4 p.m.
