TVHS golfers top Pendleton County
FRANKLIN — Tygarts Valley picked up an 11 stroke match victory over Pendleton County Wednesday afternoon at the Highlands Golf Course in Franklin with a team score of 206.
The Bulldogs were paced by junior Andrew Holbrook who was the low medalist with a 42. Tanner Townsend led the Wildcats with the overall second best individual stroke count of 49 on the links.
“That is a really tough course with challenging greens and some difficult high grass for the kids to navigate,” Bulldogs coach Jonathan Kyle said. “Although our kids did not shoot as low as they are capable of, it was a good showing this early in the season at one of the more challenging courses we will face.”
Tygarts Valley’s Liam Depp had the third best individual game with 51 strokes. He was followed in the TVHS team score by McKenzie Staten (54), and Cole Arbogast at 59. Morgan Arbogast also competed for TV with a 65.
Pendleton’s Billy McCoy checked into the clubhouse with a 53, followed by Braden McCoy (55), and Marshall Harper’s 60. Also putting in work for the Wildcats was Elijah Butler (63), and Peyton Beachler with a 68.
The Bulldogs will return to action on Tuesday when they host Petersburg and Webster County on the Raven Golf Course with a 4 p.m. tee time at Snowshoe.
