Buccaneer golfers hold off Bearcats
GRAFTON — Buckhannon-Upshur claimed a one-stroke win over host Grafton Tuesday at Tygart Lake Public Golf Course for a Big 10 Conference tri-match victory.
The Bucs tallied a team score of 172, compared to the Bearcats’ 173.
Philip Barbour notched a 232 for third.
Grafton’s Chris Miller shot a low-medal score of 36 to lead the Bearcats.
The Bucs’ winning effort was paced by 40s from Evan Coffman and Isaac Lane.
Tucker Hurst’s 50 rounded out the official scoring, while Brady Hurst (53) and Breanna Morgan (65) also chipped in for B-U.
Grafton’s Caden Moore came up just one short of the low medal with a round of 37.
Gage Colebank and Frankie Springs both finished with 50s for the ‘Cats.
Corey Martin paced Philip Barbour with a 52. Mason Halfin (55), Sara Simon (59) and a 66 for Braiden Short rounded out the Colts’ scoring.
Philip Barbour is slated to host Fairmont Senior and other Big 10 Conference rivals at Barbour Country Club at 4 p.m. on Monday.
