Holbrook paces TV golfers in quad action
SNOWSHOE — Tygarts Valley placed third with a 203 tally at the Raven Golf Club Tuesday while hosting a quad match on the links.
Greenbrier East took the team victory with a 177, led by Berkley Adwell’s low-medalist mark of 37 to come in right around par on a challenging 9-hole round.
Andrew Holbrook, a TVHS junior, fired a 42 to pace the hosts. Seniors Mackenzie Staten and Cole Arbogast with a respective 50 and 52, and Liam Depp’s 59 combined for a team total. Morgan Arbogast chipped in with a 65 on the day.
“It was good to see Andrew (Holbrook) get back to his normal game,” TV coach Jonathan Kyle said. “The course is in great shape and we look forward to our upcoming tournaments. It will be a challenge.”
Webster County edged TV with a 201. Rigel Wilson (41) and Sydney Baird (51) posted the visiting Highlanders’ top two scores. Zac Carpenter (53) and a 56 from Colton Short completed the WCHS scoring.
Pendleton County rounded out the scoring with a 220.
Tanner Townsend’s 46 paced the Wildcats.
Billy McCoy (53), Braden McCoy (59) and a 62 carded by Peyton Beachler totaled the official scoring for PCHS.
Tygarts Valley will play host to the single-A Potomac Valley Conference championship match on Monday.
The event will push all players further as the tournament setting will include 18 holes of play.
Tucker County and Pendleton County will also be on hand for the postseason action.
