Easter Bunny to attend pancake breakfast

There is more in store for children at the Elkins ON TRAC Pancake Breakfast this Saturday than yummy pancakes. A special guest has been invited to make it even more fun.

The Easter Bunny will welcome children of all ages to the event at CJ Maggie’s and pose for photos with youngsters from 8 to 10 a.m.

“The Organization Committee is looking forward to this first event of the season and will be especially pleased to welcome families with children,” said Alice Sabatino, who chairs the committee which planned the event.

Sabatino said those who want photos must bring their own cameras. ON TRAC will not provide a photographer. There will not be any charge to take photos with the Easter Bunny, but donations to the organization will be welcome, she said.

ON TRAC volunteers will serve pancakes and sausage links with orange juice, coffee or tea at the Davis Avenue restaurant in downtown Elkins from 8 to 10 a.m.

Advance tickets for the Pancake Breakfast are available at Davis Trust Company or from ON TRAC board and committee members. Priced at $5 per person, tickets may also be purchased at the door.

Those who attend the Pancake Breakfast can also be the first to purchase one of ON TRAC’s new reusable shopping bags. The bag is part of a campaign aimed at reducing waste and encouraging local shopping. Bags will also be available at participating businesses in downtown Elkins.

A discount will be offered for customers who use the bags April 20-30 during the “Think Green: BYOBag” sale. Held the week of Earth Day, the sale will offer 10 percent off for 10 days at Elkins Sewing Center, Henry G’s, Hopscotch, Joey’s Bike Shop, Main Line Books, Sewing for the Season, TD’s Classic Ts, The Closet, The Fashion Closet and Third Street Trading Company. Some businesses may also offer five cents off on purchases for customers who use the bags outside of these sale dates.

Sale of the shopping bags and Pancake Breakfast tickets support ON TRAC’s work to revitalize downtown Elkins. Specific projects include creation of a mobile website to promote downtown as a destination and development of gateways to draw traffic from Randolph Avenue to the downtown shopping district.
