Hospital receives donation for specialized newborn bed

Mike Ross, local businessman and a member of the Board of Directors of St. Joseph’s Foundation, has presented a donation to be used for the purchase of additional beds for newborns in St. Joseph’s Hospital nursery.

A previous donation from the Mike Ross Family Foundation enabled the hospital to complete a renovation of its Obstetrics Department’s birthing rooms and nursery in 2012. This latest donation will allow the hospital to complete its purchase of radiant warming beds for newborns. These highly specialized beds ensure the latest in technology for mothers and their newborns, while providing care in a secure, comfortable environment.

“I am happy to see the acquisition of these beds to ensure the best in services for newborns and their parents,” Ross said. “I thank the administration of St. Joseph’s Hospital for spending these funds wisely.”

The donation was accepted by Sue Johnson-Phillippe, president and CEO of St. Joseph’s Hospital, along with Patricia Lake, director of St. Joseph’s Foundation, and Amber Rolenson, clinical coordinator of obstetrical services.

“Mr. Ross’s generosity enables us to provide the highest quality care for the growing number of deliveries at our facility,” Johnson-Phillippe said.
