Share the Glitz event to offer prom dresses

The Code Blue Youth Alliance, located in Philippi, and Michelle Jenkins Kutchko, Miss Barbour County 1990, have teamed up to host Share the Glitz, a fundraising and outreach event geared to area girls in grades 6-12. Share the Glitz will take place from 1 to 6 p.m. April 6 at the Code Blue Youth Alliance building located at 11 N. Main St. in Philippi.

During the event, young ladies from around the area will have an opportunity to shop for deeply discounted, high-end prom dresses, with nothing priced more than $75. Local vendors will provide the highest caliber of prom and beauty products and services. The day will be filled with hands-on demonstrations by area merchants and youth-serving organizations. Several merchants will give coupons and other prizes for participation. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Code Blue Youth Center.

The Code Blue Youth Center is located in the old Dollar General building on Main Street in Philippi and is co-sponsored by the Barbour County Ministerial Association and World Vision. Code Blue has been making a difference for youth ages 13-17 of Philippi and the surrounding areas for more than two years. The center offers a safe haven for youth in the community. Here they spend time with mentors and participate in programming specifically designed to address the issues today’s teens face. The activities offered are youth-oriented and supervised.

All sales during the event are based on a first-come, first-serve basis and no sales will take place before the event is scheduled to start. If you have any questions or would like more information about the event or how your business or organization can participate, call Jennifer Downs at 304-457-5270, ext. 297 or email at jdowns@worldvision.org.
