Alderson-Broaddus College earns award
During its annual banquet meeting recently, the Barbour County Chamber of Commerce honored Alderson-Broaddus College with its 2012 Corporate Citizen of the Year award.
The annual recipients are nominated and elected by the Chamber of Commerce’s total membership. Nikky Luna, vice president of advancement, accepted the award on behalf of the college.
The Corporate Citizen is a business member of the chamber that has played a significant role in furthering the good of the county during the preceding year.
During the presentation, Chamber President Jeff Rogers, the CEO at BC Bank, said, “Alderson-Broaddus welcomed the largest freshmen class in its history last year and expects an even larger class next fall. Increased enrollment and accompanying new construction (are) bringing more business and more jobs to Barbour County. Ongoing construction includes a new multisport performance stadium and a new residential village for students consisting of four brand new buildings. Downtown Philippi and Barbour County will soon see the need for more retail, dining and recreation options.”
