Barbour agency elects new officers
During its annual banquet meeting at Alderson-Broaddus College, the Barbour County Chamber of Commerce elected new officers and presented its annual check in support of the Future Business Leaders of America Club at Philip Barbour High School.
Jeff Rogers from BC Bank, the outgoing chamber president, was the master of ceremonies for the occasion.
The invocation was delivered by Dr. Robert V. Digman of the board of trustees of Broaddus Hospital. Following the Pledge of Allegiance led by retired First National Bank CEO and veteran John Phillips, the singing of “God Bless America” was conducted by Rick Kennedy, who provided dinner music throughout the evening.
Mike Cvechko of Allegheny Insurance introduced the banquet speaker, Tom Heywood, managing partner of the Bowles Rice law firm. Incoming President Brenda Hunt from Heart & Hand Ministries conducted the election of officers and distributed door prizes with the assistance of several member of the Future Business Leaders of America Club. The Rev. Ruston Seaman with New Vision Renewable Energy closed the program with the benediction. Table entertainment during the hourlong reception included Magic by Kevin and clown Lucretia Moyer.
Elected to service in 2013 were Brenda Hunt of Heart & Hand Ministries, as president; Vice President Ron Phillips from Builders Center; and Melody Jones, CPA, as secretary-treasurer. Members of the Board of Directors Class of 2015 included Karen Bialek from Bialek Insurance; Melody Jones, CPA; Alice McDonald, interim director of the Barbour County Development Authority; Craig Miller from BC Bank Inc., Jeff Powelson from Broaddus Hospital; Sam Santilli of Sam Santilli Photography, who donated photographic services for the banquet; and Dr. Joe Super, superintendent of schools.
