D&E adds Bross-Fregonara to marketing team

Nanci Bross-Fregonara has been appointed to the position of full-time writer and graphic designer for Davis & Elkins College, and it was announced this week by Carol Schuler, D&E’s associate vice president for communications and marketing.

A part-time member of the Communications & Marketing Office since February 2012, Fregonara began her expanded duties during the current semester.

“Nanci has been a great addition to our marketing team,” Schuler said. “She has expanded our capabilities with her talent and experience and brings a true love of higher education to her job. We are very happy she accepted the opportunity to join the college full time.”

With her years of varied experience in both journalism and public relations, Bross-Fregonara provides both writing and design support for all college communications, whether press releases or print publications. Her background includes publication designer/writer for Davis Health System, the Randolph County Community Arts Center and the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources, where she also was designer and assistant editor of West Virginia Wildlife Magazine.

Bross-Fregonara received her bachelor’s degree in journalism from George Washington University; worked as a photographer for the Frederick (Md.) News-Post; and was editor and publisher of the Allegany Journal, a weekly newspaper serving Frostburg and western Allegany County, Md. She later served as director of news and information at Frostburg State University before moving to the Elkins area. She has won several press awards for editorial writing and photojournalism.

“This is such an exciting time to be at D&E, and I am truly thankful to be working with such a creative and enthusiastic team,” Bross-Fregonara said. “I’ve had the pleasure of communicating the start of several new programs on campus which are having a positive impact on both the campus and the community and look forward to continuing that momentum.”

Bross-Fregonara is part of D&E’s five-member Communications & Marketing Office, which manages all college marketing initiatives, including the college website, news and information, social media, online promotions, advertising and print publications. Other staff members include Jessica Wilmoth, e-communications specialist; Linda Howell Skidmore, writer; Alasdair Forsythe, office manager; and Schuler, who serves on the College Management Team. In September, the group moved to the historic Gatehouse, located at the entrance to the college.

Bross-Fregonara is married to Jim Fregonara, who works for the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources and has two children, John, who attends Elkins Middle School, and Julia, an Elkins High School senior who will be attending the College of Wooster this fall. Bross-Fregonara also serves on Elkins City Council as the Fourth Ward representative.
