Library plans Meet Your Local Artist program

The Philippi Public Library is set to host another session of “Meet Your Local Artist” from 11 a.m. to noon April 20.

This session will feature Joyce Frey, a master beekeeper who will discuss beekeeping and the many uses of bee products and honey recipes.

Frey works for the West Virginia Department of Agriculture as an apiary inspector, or honey bee inspector. Her duties include inspecting beekeepers’ colonies in 16 counties in the northern region of West Virginia.

Frey is a master beekeeper through the West Virginia Beekeepers Association and vice president of the Barbour County Beekeepers Association. She has been keeping honey bees for seven years and has 27 colonies of honey bees.

The Philippi Public Library is seeking other local visual, musical, literary, dramatic or other artists and artisans for this monthly cultural program. For more information, anyone interested can contact Library Director Judy Buckner Larry at 304-457-3495 or stop by the library.
