Local band plans performance

A Belington band called Shaffer has just released its sixth CD and second music video. The video is for current radio single “Love Can’t Walk Away” off the latest album, Grateful.

The song and video feature a duet with Adam Crabb from the Grammy-nominated Crabb Family and was shot in Nashville. It is available for viewing on the band’s website as well as on Youtube, where it has already generated almost 10,000 unique views.

The band, formerly called The Shaffers, is comprised of Dave Shaffer, wife Trish, daughter Cassie Shaffer-Hymes, and her husband, Mike Hymes. The group has been performing professionally since 2000, garnering national attention and opening for such artists as Sugarland, Jason Crabb, the Hoppers and 4Him.

“Love Can’t Walk Away” is the follow-up single to the first Grateful release, “He Ain’t the Leavin’ Kind,” which topped the National Singing News Top 80 Chart at No. 27.

“I think this is a song that many people can relate to,” said Shaffer-Hymes. “Loving others is difficult sometimes and takes work, but nothing great ever comes easy. If you truly love and are committed to somebody or something, you can never just walk away and leave it behind.”

Shaffer is currently signed to Willow Creek Records in Nashville.

The group will perform at 6 p.m. Sunday at Summit Church in Elkins. Admission is free. More information about the group and its music is available online at
