B-UHS releases top graduates
Buckhannon-Upshur High School, which does not designate a valedictorian or salutatorian, has announced its “top two” graduates based on academics.
The No. 1 student is Briea St. Clair, the daughter of Todd and Melanie St. Clair. She has been active within the school system and community as a two-time county winner for the Young Writers Contest; a member of Hi-Y, National Honor Society and Student Council; and volunteer at Sharpe Hospital in Weston. Her goal is to attend West Virginia University and attain a Ph.D. in psychology.
“As No. 1 in my class, I cannot express how much being involved has shaped me along the way. Thus, I will be graduating with a positive mindset and high hopes for my future,” St. Clair said.
The No. 2 graduate is Sarah Gillespie, the daughter of Matthew and Rena Gillespie. Some of the organizations she has been involved in include the National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, 4-H, Hi-Y, Sand Run Baptist Church and Student Council. She plans to attend Glenville State College, major in elementary education and receive her mathematics endorsement.
