Beekeeper leads program for preschoolers

The Philippi Public Library recently hosted master beekeeper Joyce Frey for the Preschool Story Hour program.

Frey showed the children live bees, showed how the bees make honey and wax and explained why bees are so important. The children were then treated to some honey samples, tried on the beekeeper attire, made their own bee magnet and received “scratch and sniff” honey-scented bookmarks and stickers.

The Preschool Story Hour will continue for the remainder of May and is held on Wednesdays from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. After summer break, the classes will resume in the fall.
