Chef to open new dinner series

Chef Dale Hawkins will open Adaland Mansion’s new event, Celebrate Local! An Adaland Mansion Dinner Series this Sunday, with dinner seatings at 1 and 3 p.m.

Adaland Mansion is partnering with the Barbour County Community Market and Appalachian Farm and Research Center in the new dinner series that celebrates local and regional produce and meats prepared by five local and regional well-known chefs.

Hawkins, a graduate of Pennsylvania Culinary, has used his experiences at Victoria and Albert’s at Disney’s Grand Floridian Beach Resort, at his own restaurant and catering business, at Glade Springs Resort outside of Beckley and at Stonewall Resort near Weston to build his own take on preparing food.

“My food reflects the seasons, local harvests and the world becoming a smaller place,” Hawkins said. “I support local family farms but at the same time, I take advantage of the increased availability of specialty foods from across the globe. My mission is to use high-quality, fresh ingredients.”

Hawkins’ menu for the May 26 dinner promises to highlight his philosophy of food. Reservations for the first of the Celebrate Local! series may be made by calling 304-457-2415 or 304-457-1587.
