D&E nursing students learn future of field
Anne Talbott Jessie, senior director of Ambulatory Nursing Practice at Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, Va., recently presented a lecture to Davis & Elkins College nursing students.
The grandniece of Dr. S. Benton Talbot and the daughter of former D&E trustee Richard Talbott and Joanne Talbott, Ralbott Jessie’s primary job focus is on optimizing patient-centered medical home practices, maturing the role of care coordinator and developing a system infrastructure that supports population health management and care transitions.
Her presentation, which focused on the future of nursing, outlined patient care transitions; ways to decrease the cost of health care in the United States; and trends in technology. She said, “Care needs to be patient-centered.”
Talbott Jessie is a graduate of the University of Virginia and holds a master’s degree in nursing leadership from Jefferson College of Health Sciences. She is an active member in the American Academy of Ambulatory Care.
