Davis & Elkins students honored at conference
Davis & Elkins College students attended the West Virginia Future Business Leaders of America – Phi Beta Lambda State Leadership Conference in Charleston April 8-9.
Local students who were honored include:
DJ Crawford was awarded fifth place in macroeconomics and sixth place in retail management. Crawford, a junior, is the son of Dennis and Kelly Crawford of Elkins.
Breanna Eskew was awarded second place in financial concepts and fourth place in management concepts. Eskew, a senior, is the daughter of Kirby and Glenda Eskew of Buckhannon.
Devin George was awarded fourth place in macroeconomics and 10th place in management concepts. George, a junior, is the son of William and Susan George of Coalton.
Kevin Gratias was awarded fourth place in justice administration. Gratias, a junior, is from Belington.
Danielle Hartley was awarded second place in information management and third place in microeconomics. Hartley, a junior, is the daughter of Carolyn Hartley and Stephen Ogden both of Montrose.
Jason Mallow was awarded first place in hospitality management. Mallow, a senior, is the son of Catherine Pennington of Beverly and Rodney Mallow of Bartow.
Patrick Myers was awarded first place in business ethics. Myers, a senior, is the son of Ernest and Janet Myers of Montrose.
Alexander Taylor was awarded first place in business ethics. Taylor, a senior, is the son of Denny and Nancy Taylor of Huttonsville.
Rebecca Wright was awarded second place in help desk. Wright, a sophomore, is the daughter of DeNee Wright of Philippi.
The State Leadership Conference provided students the opportunity to compete in business-related competitions, attend educational seminars and workshops and network with businesses and their peers. Future Business Leaders of America – Phi Beta Lambda is a nonprofit education association for students preparing for careers in business and business-related fields and is the largest business career student organization in the world. Membership in FBLA-PBL provides students with personal and career development opportunities.
Top state winners are then eligible to compete for national awards at the National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, Calif., in June.
