Upshur man facing multiple charges

A Buckhannon man faces a variety of charges stemming from an April 1 incident in which he allegedly attempted to elude police in the Walmart parking lot.

According to the complaint in Upshur County Magistrate Court, Robert F. Davis II, 35, of 1105 Mudlick Road, is charged with operating or attempting to operate a clandestine drug lab, driving under the influence, driving with a revoked license, shoplifting and fleeing in a vehicle. Bond in the case was set at $75,250.

The complaint stated that Davis left the Walmart in Buckhannon, concealing a bottle of kerosene and a bottle of drain cleaner. A Buckhannon police officer activated the lights and siren of his cruiser, but Davis reportedly put on his helmet and tried to flee the scene on a motorcycle.

The complaint stated Davis struck a curb and wrecked, but got back on the motorcycle and struck a police cruiser. He continued to try to flee, but struck a second cruiser head-on and was thrown from the motorcycle.

The complaint stated Davis was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital, where he tested positive for methamphetamine and marijuana.
